Like the portrait of Peter, this painting uses a combination of watercolor and pen and ink. It's based on a faded photograph taken when my grandmother was about 18. She died young, more than a quarter century before my birth, but this portrait makes me feel connected to her and helps me recall with gratitude the stories her children have shared with me about her over the years.
