Our Living in Harmony newsletter comes out on an “as inspired” basis. Besides astrology, it features Anne’s original art and writing on a variety of themes.
Subscribe now to make sure you see every issue as soon as it’s posted.
Also, be sure to visit our archives, where you’ll find special issues devoted to every sign of the zodiac. Besides reviewing each sign from a spiritual and mystical perspective, archived issues present paintings and photography chosen specifically to harmonize with the month’s astrological sign or season as well as an inspiring guided meditation. Throughout each year, you can use these newsletters to “follow the Sun” and make the most of whatever sign the Sun currently occupies.
How to Use This Section
Use the quick facts here to “tour the zodiac” so you can harmonize with the astrological energies each month. You’ll find all 12 astrological signs, in order from Aries through Pisces, along with each sign’s symbol in a colorful painting.
You’ll also find the planet, element, and best traits for every sign as well as some notable writers, artists, performers, and other creative people born under each sign.
Return Each Month, Tune in to the Current Sign
When the Sun enters a new sign (or whenever you feel the need to harmonize with current astrological energies):
✦Scroll down to the section for whatever sign the Sun occupies.
✦Enjoy the watercolor painting associated with the month’s astrological sign. Notice the symbol it depicts and the painting’s colors, which were chosen specifically for their associations with the sign.
✦Note the planet associated with the sign. If it’s a planet you can see from Earth (such as the Moon or Venus), find out when it’s currently visible and locate it in the night sky on an evening when skies are clear.
✦Consider the element associated with the sign and whether you’re expressing it well. For example, if you have an excess of fire energy during Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius time (feeling angry, rushing, being too bossy), tone down that volatile energy by bringing the art, colors, and qualities for a different sign, in a different element, into your life in some way. For instance, you might tune in to Taurus’s earthy energy by looking at the peaceful Bull painting here each day, or getting out into nature by walking barefoot in the grass (as the Bull is doing), or cultivating patience, a noble Taurus trait. You also could calm your fiery energy by listening to recordings by Taurus Ella Fitzgerald or watching Fred Astaire glide in a tuxedo in one of his movie appearances with Ginger Rogers.
✦As you consider the current sign’s element, notice when you need more of its energies. For example, if you’re feeling dreamy or oversensitive when the Sun is in Pisces, tap into one of the air signs and borrow its sharp thinking and emotional detachment by contemplating its symbol or wearing clothing in its colors.
✦Think about the current sign’s best traits and consider how you can express them in your daily life.
✦See the famous people listed for the sign and choose one to focus on during the month. Besides reading about the person, consider exploring her or his creative work. For example, during the month of Virgo in late July and the first three weeks of August, you might listen to music by Patsy Cline or Cass Elliot, read a mystery by Agatha Christie, or read up on Lyndon Johnson’s political career.
✦Take time during the month for meditation about the current sign, its symbol, its planet, its element, or its special traits.
When the Sun occupies your Sun sign, you may want to visit this page often, perhaps even daily, to review your sign’s associations and enjoy its special colors and traits.
You also may find it helpful to spend extra time exploring your loved ones’ Sun signs, particularly around their birthdays.
